A desktop processor with eight cores, the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X was introduced in July 2019. It belongs to the Ryzen 7 lineup and is compatible with Socket AM4 and the Zen 2 (Matisse) architecture. The number of cores is effectively doubled to 16 threads thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT). The Ryzen 7 3700X has 32MB of L3 cache and runs at 3.6 GHz by default, but depending on the workload, it can boost to 4.4 GHz. On a 7 nm production node, AMD is using 3,800 million transistors to create the Ryzen 7 3700X. The silicon dies for the chip are made at TSMC’s foundry, not AMDs. The unlocked multiplier on the Ryzen 7 3700X is freely adjustable, making it much easier to dial in any overclocking frequency.
The Ryzen 7 3700X consumes power at levels typical of modern PCs, with a TDP of 65 W. The AMD processor’s dual-channel interface supports DDR4 memory. The highest memory speed is 3200 MHz, but you can overclock your computer to go even faster. Ryzen 7 3700X uses a PCI-Express Gen 4 connection to communicate with other computer parts. You require a graphics card because this processor lacks integrated graphics.
The Ryzen 7 3700X supports hardware virtualization, significantly boosting virtual machine performance. In addition, this processor can run programs that use Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX), which improves performance for applications requiring lots of calculations. Along with AVX, AMD supports the more recent AVX2 standard but not AVX-512.
Specifications:
A potent eight-core processor with 16 threads, the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz Eight-Core AM4 Processor is made for motherboards with socket AM4. The third-generation 7nm Ryzen processor, based on the Zen 2 architecture, performs better than its forerunner. Its maximum boost clock speed is 4.4 GHz, and its base clock speed is 3.6 GHz. It also has 24 PCIe Gen 4 lanes, 32MB of L3 cache, and dual-channel 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM support. To fully benefit from PCIe 4.0, users should pair it with an AMD X500-series motherboard.
The processor has a Wraith Prism cooler with RGB LED lighting and a 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power). Please be advised that a separate graphics card is required as it does not have an integrated GPU.
AMD Game Cache
AMD GameCache is made to lower memory latency so that top games can run at higher frame rates.
Precision Boost 2
AMD Ryzen processors monitor temperature and power usage. As a result, the processor can increase clock speeds for any application in precise 25 MHz steps without pausing work when it knows it is operating cool and quietly.
One Click Overclocking
Precision Boost Overdrive increases clock speeds in conjunction with your motherboard and enables one-click overclocking.
AMD StoreMI and SenseMI Technology
With the help of AMD StoreMI technology, SSD and HDD storage can be combined to create a hybrid drive that keeps frequently used programs and files on the SSD and other data on the larger HDD.
With the aid of artificial intelligence, AMD’s SenseMI technology enables the AMD Ryzen processor to adapt its performance to you and your applications (MI).
AMD Ryzen Master Unity
Personalized Performance:
Up to four user-defined, customized profiles are offered by AMD Ryzen Master for storing CPU, GPU, and DDR4 memory configurations. The number of active cores and memory timings can be changed, and you can also optimize overall performance or make specific adjustments for your preferred applications.
System Monitoring:
In real-time, you can view a histogram of the average and peak clock rates and temperatures for each core using AMD Ryzen Master.
Acceptable Temperature range for AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
If you are not overclocking, the temperature should be between 45 and 55 degrees while you are idle, 70 to 75 degrees. At the same time, you are gaming, 80 degrees when a multithreaded workload is fully engaged, and 90 degrees when you perform a stress test.
Using the default Wraith Spire cooler, the R5-3600X never exceeds 60C. Even after rendering a model in 3d Studio for a day using the VRay engine while using all of the CPU’s cores at 100% capacity.
You know that the Wraith Stealth cooler is being pushed to its limit by the R5-3600. However, the Wraith Prism that comes with the R7-3700X is slightly too big for that CPU. Able to handle even the R9-3900X with ease.
Conclusion:
Recheck the cooler to ensure you removed any plastic from the contact point if the idle temperature is above 50 degrees Celsius. If you plan to render a lot and are using the stock cooler that AMD provided with a Ryzen 3700x, consider investing in a better cooler.
Your cooling system is malfunctioning. The thermal paste wasn’t applied correctly. Dust is obstructing the heat spreader fins. The fan might also not be functioning.
Or perhaps you overclocked the CPU? If you do, it is strongly advised to upgrade the cooling system. It would help if you disregarded overclocks because they are essentially useless today.
